How to have Peace

ABC’s of Peace
So many today struggle to arrive at a place of peace, peace within themselves and with God. They try satisfying that longing with earthly pursuits or by trying to attain some kind of behavioral perfection, or they toil endlessly with religious activity and ritual. The truth is that finding this peace is as simple as A. B. C.
            A.        First, we must just:  Admit that we are sinners.
That is to say that we have all missed it when it comes to living the kind of life that we should. That doesn’t set us apart from everyone else. It actually makes us just like everyone else. The Bible says:
"For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard." (Rom. 3:23 NLT)
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."    (Romans 6:23 NASB)
"But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."    (Romans 5:8 NLT)
Notice: Christ's death on the Cross demonstrated God's absolute love for us. God made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could have salvation.  God is not against us; He is for us!
Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly."    (John 10:10 NASB)
"The Lord is not slow about His promise (regarding judgment – my note), as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance."    (2 Peter 3:9 NASB)
            B.        Next, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and Be willing to turn from our sinful life.
Believing is more than just knowing about Jesus. Most people today know about Jesus. Some know Him as an historical person much as George Washington or Julius Caesar. Others think of Him as the founder of a religion or a great philosopher or moralist.  Here’s what Bible says:
"Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.""    (Matthew 16:16 NKJV)
"Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."    (John 14:6 NLT)
""For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."
 (John 3:16 NLT)
Belief in Jesus Christ is to put our total confidence in the fact that He is who the Bible says He is and that He died on the Cross to pay the penalty for our sins and rose again. Belief involves being willing to turn from your sins to God (that's what the Bible calls repentance). There’s nothing to add to what He has already done for us. We simply accept this truth by faith (believing).
            C.        Finally, Call on the name of the Lord.
"For "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.""   (Rom. 10:13)
"But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God."    (John 1:12 NLT)
Note. All who receive Christ by being willing to turn from their sins and put their faith in Him become children of God
We hear the name of the Lord being used a lot today. For most people it’s  something we cry out when we’re excited or something hurts or makes us angry. That is not what we talking about.
Calling on the name of the Lord is the way by which we individually receive Him.   To call on the name of the Lord is to call out to Him in faith. It’s a way of expressing that we are willing to admit that we have sinned and that we are putting our total faith and confidence in Jesus Christ. Pray is simply talking to God. Here’s a way you might put this into words:
“Lord Jesus, I need you. I admit that I have sinned and fallen short or God’s glorious standard. Thank you for dying on the Cross to pay for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life, Lord. Forgive me of my sins, write my name in your Book of Life, take control of my life and give me the new kind of life I can have in You.”
Please do not think that there’s something magical about these exact words. This prayer is just away of expressing the desire of your heart to make Christ the Lord of your life. If there’s no real belief behind your words, the prayer is useless.
God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart.
Jesus said: "'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me."    (Revelation 3:20 NASB)
So, let me encourage you. If you are sensing the desire in your heart to receive Christ right now, don’t let this moment pass. Don’t put if off. Come to that place of peace that only He can give right now. Scroll back up and re-read that suggested prayer.  If it expresses the desire of your heart, then pray it in faith now.
If you do, please contact me  I’d like to chat with you about this personally and send you a free booklet entitled, "Beginning Steps, A Growth Guide for New Believers."
